Living History

I received my B.A. in Archaeology from Cornell University in 2015, and my M.A. in Historical Archaeology from the University in Massachusetts, Boston in 2020.

Coming from an art and history involved family I not only started painting/drawing early age but also have been around historical site, museum an even excavations as youngsters.
In 2017 I combined that all with my passion for body-art and started tattooing the ancient way without machine.

I am a PhD Candidate in the Scandinavian Studies Department at University College London, England. My main project involves interdisciplinary archaeological research focusing on specifics of early medieval textiles and trade in Northern Europe.

I was working from 6/2000 until 5/2023 as a director of Kierikki Centre and was active in EXARC meetings and OpenArch-project.

I studied philosophical anthropology at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, Iasi, Romania.

I am a post-doctoral researcher managing project CUMAN - "Current understanding of medieval artefacts of late nomads" at Institute of Archaeology of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

From 2009 living history teaching school children age 11-12 year.

I’m an exhibition technician working in KAMU Espoo City Museum, Finland. I’m also a vice-chair of Finnish Museum Technical association with a Master craftsman’s degree in museum technology.

As part of my PhD, I carry out my research on the topic of the shipwright's toolkit over the long Braudelian period. This work involves the multidisciplinarity between archeology, history of technology as well as approaches such as as traceology, ethnography and experimentations.

I am an expert in warp-weighted weaving, having written one of a handful of books on the topic. I've been involved with textiles since 1975, and experimental archaeology and early weaving technologies since 2000.
