Activities around the Dublin Conference

We are pleased to announce a drinks reception for the conference at University College Dublin, on Friday 16th January 2015, immediately after the EXARC AGM, 7pm-9:30pm, in the UCD Staff Common Room, to be generously sponsored and provided by Odaios Foods, a very good friend of UCD School of Archaeology for many years. We hope to have a selection of wines, beers, soft drinks, hot venison stew, vegetarian and vegan options, as well other tasty treats, all provided by Ireland’s leading high-quality food suppliers.

We are also delighted to announce that Umha Aois will be joining us on Friday 16th, and Saturday 17th January 2015, with bronze casting activities at the UCD Centre for Experimental Archaeology and Ancient Technologies.
“Umha Aois” (the Irish for “Bronze Age”) is an ongoing experimental project organised on a volunteer basis by a committee formed of artists & archaeologists. Through research and experimentation they are attempting to rediscover our Bronze Age ancestors’ casting methods, and in the process empowering the artists involved with unique approaches to working in bronze. These people know what they’re at – it will be brilliant to have them lead this signal event at the conference.

On Sunday 18th January 2015 there will be a trip to the Irish National Heritage Park, Ferrycarrig. Due to the costs of transport, there is a small additional fee of €15 for this, please remember to book for this when you register for the conference.
