2018 is an interesting year. EXARC cohosted several meetings: in South Africa (first African Conference on Experimental Archaeology, #ACE), Italy (Paleofestival and Annual General Meeting), Spain (the EAA and side program), Lithuania (a conference on open-air museums, tourism & live interpretation), the UK (TRACamp, a two-day workshop on Roman experimental archaeology), Poland (a conference on archaeological open-air museums), and the REARC Conference in the United States.
We launched our new EXARC website and of course remained active on social media. Visits to the website increased by 20% to almost 135,000 a year. Our EXARC Journal and Events Calendar are the best viewed sections, followed by the presentation of all our members. Our Journal is more popular than ever before: over 30,000 people read it annually. We published over 60 articles in 2018 where we normally have about 40. We updated our EXARC online repository at tDAR with 500 new titles and are in discussion about adding more files.
EXARC is partner in the EU Project CRAFTER, lasting 2018-2019, we have also worked on several EU cooperation, we should know more about the outcome in 2019.
We introduced a special project for our members - EXARC Twinning Program to which several members applied. We cooperate officially with several partners: we are member of the network of European Museum Organisations NEMO, the Archaeoforum is under EXARCs umbrella and we have an agreement with REARC in the United States. We are happy that our cooperation with Colonial Williamsburg tightens, Colonial Williamsburg Foundation-EXARC Fellowship will also take place in 2019.
