I have studied Prehistory at Leiden University and got my master's degree there. After a few years of excavating I turned my attention to archaeology & education. First as a prehistoric inhabitant of Archeon and coordinator of the prehistoric part there, from 2007 onwards with my own company for archaeology & education, PRAE. A wide range of activities keeps me busy and happy:

  • teaching schoolchildren about archaeology, Prehistory, Roman and Medieval times;
  • workshops on ancient textile techniques, (pre)historic cooking and Roman beauty for adults;
  • (pre)historic children's activities in museums, libraries and other places;
  • living (pre)history on festivals and events;
  • museumprojects;
  • prehistoric, Roman and medieval hairdressing;
  • making prehistoric, Roman and early medieval costumes for museums;
  • gardening in the Roman and medieval gardens I co-created in Park Matilo in Leiden;
  • writing books and educational programs

and much more, as long as it has something to do with making old stuff accessible to the general public.
